Pyorrhea refers to an advanced stage of Periodontal Disease. The Pyorrhea stage is the stage at which ligaments and bones that support the teeth become inflamed and infected. Pyorrhea usually originates from Gingivitis. If left untreated, Pyorrhea can cause Halitosis (Bad Breath). Pyorrhea causes the jaw bone to slowly erode due to Painful Gums and Bleeding Gums. During the Pyorrhea stage of Gum Disease the loss of tooth support can cause tooth loss. Pyorrhea is the primary cause of tooth loss in adults.
